About PlayStation Store
About PlayStation Store
The Sony PlayStation is the biggest video game console in the world, and the PlayStation Store is its hub for digital game sales and downloads. PlayStation owners can find the popular games for PlayStation 5 and other consoles, game trailers, playable demos, and more.
Aside from almost a full-scale shift from physical media to digital gaming, what makes the PlayStation Store particularly appealing is its extensive catalog of new and classic games that are frequently on sale, including major shopping events like the store's Summer and Black Friday sales, when prices make it easy to build a backlog in your game library. Outside of downloadable content, you can also shop for PS Plus memberships, PlayStation consoles and gear (with free shipping), and fan merchandise.
Returns
What is PlayStation Store's return and refund policy?
PlayStation allows refunds within 14 days of purchase on digital products that have not been downloaded or streamed. You can request a refund through the support help center, which will direct you to speak to a representative through live chat.
Rewards
Does PlayStation Store have memberships, rewards, or loyalty programs?
PS Plus is PlayStation's online tiered subscription program where members receive free monthly games, cloud storage and other benefits. It's usually required to access online multiplayer modes for many popular games. Free monthly games you redeem are accessible as long as you have an active PS Plus subscription.
In 2022, Sony merged its former PlayStation Now subscription service with PS Plus, creating three membership tiers: Essential, Extra and Premium. The latter tiers give members access to hundreds of downloadable and streamable titles from PlayStation's catalog.
How to Save on PS Plus
Prices for a PS Plus subscription change every few years, but you'll save more by opting for a yearly plan over a monthly subscription. Discounted subscriptions are also available during holiday events like Black Friday. You can also buy PS Plus subscriptions from third-party retailers, which some gamers use to "stack" or prolong their membership term before price increases occur.
Sales calendar
What are the best PlayStation Store sales and seasonal discounts?
The PlayStation Store frequently has sales on digital game downloads and add-ons, often advertised at up to 75% off. But there are a few yearly events to particularly watch out for to get the best of the best deals.
Black Friday and the Holiday Season
Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are usually the time of year when newer games see their first significant markdown. You can expect to find titles released in the past year 25% to 50% off and popular games from the past few years reaching all-time low prices. These lower prices often continue into the December Holiday Sales.
Days of Play and Summer Sales
Summer marks the time of year when kids are out of school, and what better way to avoid summer boredom than video games? Sony's annual Days of Play event is dedicated to the gaming community and kicks off the out-of-school season jam-packed with deals on games, subscriptions and PlayStation Gear. The Summer Sale then runs all season long and is typically when you'll find the largest number of games on sale.
Double Discount Sale
During some sales, PS Plus members get an extra discount on games, such as an extra 5% or 10% off. But PlayStation's Double Discount Sale is made for PS Plus members. Every discount advertised in the sale is doubled for active PS Plus subscribers, with lucrative low prices not seen outside of Black Friday. It's one of the best times of the year to buy Greatist Hits titles and former Game of the Year winners and nominees. This brief sale usually occurs in mid to late summer, but it may occur at other times of the year too.
