About Postmates
About Postmates
Postmates brings food, alcohol, groceries and more to customers’ doors. The business launched in 2011 and currently offers delivery in nearly 3,000 US cities. It grew from the three founders’ realization that they couldn’t order hot dogs for delivery. The company sought to make all kinds of food and products available for delivery with a focus on local restaurants and small businesses that couldn’t practically offer delivery independently. Because the service depends primarily on its app, customers often use it to find new and interesting food options while traveling as well as enjoying local favorites during a night in. Frequent promos and special deals make delivery affordable for more users, and Postmates offers several programs to encourage foodies to indulge themselves.
In 2020, Postmates was acquired by Uber. The platform still operates as a standalone app in select U.S. cities, sharing restaurant inventory and delivery infrastructure with Uber Eats. The former Postmates Unlimited membership program has been replaced by Uber One.
Rewards
Does Postmates have memberships, rewards, or loyalty programs?
Uber One is Postmates’ paid customer rewards program, replacing its former program called Postmates Unlimited. The primary benefit is simple: free delivery on orders at eligible restaurants and stores. It also comes with a 10% discount on your order. Look for the Uber One icon to find eligible restaurants and stores when using the site. Users can try it for free, but after that, the fee is $9.99 per month or $99.99 annually.
Sales calendar
What are the best Postmates sales and seasonal discounts?
Black Friday brings special deals for foodies. While these change every year, the “stay home” theme encourages customers to avoid the chaos outside for three days with things like reduced fees, free delivery and even giveaways.
Pickup
What pickup options does Postmates offer?
Although Postmates is best-known for delivery, they also make pickup orders much simpler. Instead of juggling confusing online ordering systems, downloading a bunch of separate apps or calling in an order, users can place pickup orders for their favorite restaurants through their Postmates account. Pickup is completely free apart from the basic cost of the food.
Questions shoppers ask about Postmates
How do I get free shipping at Postmates?
Individual restaurants and stores on Postmates may have free delivery available on select orders from time to time. You can also save on delivery fees by signing up for Uber One. This paid membership program ($9.99/month or $99.99/year) gives you $0 delivery fees and 10% off eligible orders at many restaurants and stores. Look for the Uber One icon to determine eligibility for the restaurant or store. Note that additional order fees other than the delivery charge may still apply.
How much does Postmates charge to deliver?
Delivery fees depend on the merchant’s status with the company. Orders from Partner Merchants incur a $0.99-$3.99 delivery fee, while all others have a $5.99-$9.99 delivery fee. There’s also a variable percentage-based service fee that will be applied to your purchase. That amount depends on your order amount. You’ll always be able to review the fees associated with your delivery on the checkout screen.
What happened to Postmates Unlimited?
Postmates Unlimited, the merchant’s free delivery program, transitioned to Uber One in late 2023. The program still offers free delivery on eligible orders and other savings opportunities. Customers with an existing Postmastes Unlimited subscription were automatically updated to an Uber One subscription.
Does Postmates have a rewards program?
Uber One is the closest thing to a rewards program Postmates offers. Uber One replaced the Postmastes Unlimited program in late 2023, offering customers $0 delivery fees and a 10% discount on eligible orders. Uber One members can also save on Uber rideshares. It costs $9.99/month or $99.99/year to join, but you can often take advantage of a free trial period.
